World GIS Day falls on November 16th every year — Join us @ Think Happy Everyday – Workshop as we celebrate all things GIS (Geographical Information Systems), Mapping and Data Visualization this coming Wednesday 16th Nov, 2016 from 3pm till 9pm. The event is FREE and OPEN TO ANYONE!

We will be discussing:
+ What are Geographical Information Systems (GIS)?
+ Getting Started with Mapping and Projections
+ Crowdsourcing Data using Open Street Map (OSM)
+ How Maps are metaphorical vehicles for Politics and Political Discourse
+ Data Visualization techniques
+ Hands-on Exercise and Mini-Workshop on Open Source GIS

18.00 – 19.00: How Maps are metaphorical vehicles for Politics by Harshavardhan Bhat
19.00 – 19:30: Short talk by guest speaker from Mapbox BLR on Crowdsourcing using Open Street Map with Open Source GIS Demo
19.30 – 20.00: Hands-on exercise to scrape data from the web for Data Visualization as well as Mapping purposes by Jeph Alapat
20.00 – 21.00: Current and Future Urban Mapping Initiatives at THE Workshop by Anna Viegas D’mello and Kavita Arora
